Mehak lives in an old house where she is scared to enter the house. Her father brought her to a psychiatrist when she was ten years old. Mehak is given medication to cure her agoraphobia and is sent to a boarding school. The psychiatrist abuses her and mistreats her. Mehak has a good relationship with her guardian uncle (Rituparna Sengupta) and her father (Deepak Dobriyal). After some time, Mehak's father disappears. He was last seen with her uncle. During a trip, Mehak was kidnapped by her brother. When her father (Deepak Dobriyal) comes to know that Mehak is being treated by a psychiatrist for agoraphobia, he goes to meet her psychiatrist. But he is killed when Mehak's father gets to know that he is her psychiatrist. Mehak does not have any choice but to go and see a different psychiatrist (Meenakshi Seshadri). There she learns that her father was killed because of her. She goes to Mumbai to get her father's murderer. During her journey, Mehak gets a new chance to live her life. She meets her old guardian uncle who tells her that her guardian is her father. She meets her second psychiatrist (Mahesh Manjrekar) who tells her that her father is her psychiatrist. She leaves Mumbai with her new psychiatrist and tries to solve the mystery about her father's murder.

Mehak Deo is a psychological thriller set in India. The film is based on a true story, the story of a girl who goes through one of the world's worst experiences: being kidnapped and assaulted by a person she trusts. In an interview with Eros Now, Radhika Apte said that she initially liked the script but after reading it for the second time, changed her mind because she was not sure that she would be able to emotionally connect with the script. Apte said that she was very excited to play the character
