1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a structure of an electronic component, more specifically to a gate array-type semiconductor component having a trimming circuit.
2. Description of the Related Art
A conventional gate array-type semiconductor component is shown in FIG. 1. The gate array-type semiconductor component 100 includes an input/output (I/O) portion 110, a memory portion 112, a gate portion 114 and a pad portion 116.
The I/O portion 110 is arranged around the memory portion 112 and has a plurality of cells 111. The cells 111 are each electrically connected to a corresponding one of the gate portion 114.
The memory portion 112 is connected to the gate portion 114 and is provided with a plurality of dummy cells. Each of the dummy cells is electrically connected to a corresponding one of the cells 111.
The gate portion 114 is electrically connected to the pad portion 116. The pad portion 116 has a plurality of pads 117.
Because the dummy cells of the memory portion 112 are fabricated simultaneously with the cells 111 in the I/O portion 110, the cost of fabricating the gate array-type semiconductor component 100 is lower than that of fabricating a gate array-type semiconductor component having a separate memory portion.
To compensate the error resulting from the variation in the fabrication process of the cells 111, the memory portion 112 is provided with the dummy cells so that the dummy cells can simulate the operation of the cells 111. Thus, when the gate portion 114 is not functional, the dummy cells of the memory portion 112 can still supply a proper current through the corresponding cells 111 in the I/O portion 110.
